On February 22, 2019, Prof. Hr. Yancheva, Rector of the Agricultural University-Plovdiv and Prof. V. Popov, coordinator of the National Food Institute, participated in the work-programme of the International Conference “Organic Agriculture in Bulgaria again at a Crossroads” at the International Agricultural Exhibition AGRA 2019.
The discussions were organised in two panels: The Challenge of Pesticide Residues and Science in Producer Assistance. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, the scientific community, producers and certification organisations, as well as experts from Germany and Italy.
In the second panel, Prof. V. Popov presented the National Research Programs (NRP) of the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as the main goals and scientific tasks of the NRP Food. He also outlined the opportunities for wider involvement of the beneficiaries of the expected results of the Programme – farmers, processors, branch organizations, businesses and consumers – in the implementation of the envisaged scientific tasks.
